Commissioning Tristin
You can own one of my works by purchasing a piece listed in my shop, or by commissioning me! Commissions are different from artist to artist, and can be a daunting (and grueling) process. Help me help you by familiarizing yourself with what a commission with me may look like!
Every commission is different- feel free to contact me to ask any questions or propose any ideas you may have.
What will Tristin say no to?
I do not place any content restrictions on the type of works I am willing to consider, quote, and create.
Restrictions of what work I will and won’t accept rely completely on if I am confident in meeting my own high standards of output. If I feel I am not the best candidate for your commission, I am happy to direct you towards an artist that may meet your needs!
I will not recreate another work, line for line. Art is a painstakingly difficult skill to master, and while I gladly take inspiration from other artists to continue to learn and grow, I will not copy another artist’s work. I love reference photos- the more you can offer to help me create what you envision in your piece, the better.
There is a very important difference in inspiration and reference, versus copying and plagiarizing. Please do not ask me to copy or plagiarize another artist- support that artist!
Quotes and Specific Commission Requests
I am open to any and all questions leading up to a commission request. There are a million places on my site where you can contact me for anything! This means asking some preemptive questions in preparation for a possible commission, commissioning, and any business related questions!
I will offer a quote and timeline for any commission idea at any point, with no caveat or catch attached. Unasked questions will never find answers! Even if you feel commissioning isn’t in your budget. isn’t a feasible request, or you’re unsure of shipment/timelines, I am available to assist you during any stage in your decision making!
Client’s Reference Photo
Typically, when someone comes to me with a request based off of a specific photo, I try to find the original artist. I will then use their work as a jumping-off point and try to understand the inner workings of what elements make their ‘style.’ I will then use those elements in my own piece, emulating the ambience of their work without imitating their work.
My work
This commission was a tattoo request, so I entered the creative process with the understanding that the tattoo artist will need to tweak/adjust parts of the image. I made sure to capture the ambience of the reference photo in a format that would suit the needs of transitioning the art piece into a tattoo artist’s hands.
